Liban Mohamed, who recently completed his 3rd year thesis in the Burrows Lab, has received a competitive summer studentship from the Michael DeGroote Institute for Infectious Diseases Research to continue his studies of mutations leading to, and reversing, extreme beta lactam resistance in Pseudomonas aeruignosa. With his mentor Dr. Ryan Lamers, Liban identified a novel mutation in extremely resistant strains that significantly impairs their growth. He will spend the summer probing the mechanism underlying this new Achilles heel. Congratulations Liban!
