Tori Marko wins 1st place MSc Poster award at 2016 IIDR Trainee Day

MSc student Tori Marko (in green, above) was the recipient of the first place MSc poster award at today’s Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Diseases Research Trainee Day. Tori, who joined the Burrows lab in 2014 as an undergraduate thesis student, and began her MSc in Sept 2015, presented her work on the role of type IV pilus minor pilins in P. aeruginosa pathogenicity. Tori showed that the bacteria are attenuated for virulence only when specific T4P components are deleted, and is tracing the underlying mechanism of action. Tori is an accomplished student who hold a CIHR salary award and has won other prizes for her work. Congratulations Tori!
